10 PLEASURES AROUSES A GREAT INTEREST AT ANUGA 2011


The spanish company 10 PLEASURES has participated for the first time in the International food trade show Anuga 2011 that took place from 8th to October 12th 2011 in Cologne, Germany and let the company achieve excellent results.

BELLUGA GOURMET AT WORLD TRIBUTE TO PAELLA


On the occasion of the World Tribute to Paella, held from 29th September to 2nd October in the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia (Spain), Belluga Gourmet presented its olive pâtés and extra virgin olive oil Belluga Selection, through the stand of Original Productos Valencianos in the fair.

SEGORBE NOSTRUM olive oil obtains the second maximum award for quality in Los Angeles.

Segorbe Nostrum olive oil produced by the Cooperative of Segorbe, succeeds again thanks to its exceptional quality, in the awards for the best Extra Virgin Olive Oils which is given each year in California (United States).

The Cooperative is fully satisfied with the international acknowledgement that their Extra Virgin Olive Oils are still receiving. This time, they have been doubly awarded in Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition, obtaining two Silver Medals: one for the "Intense Unfiltered Segorbe Nostrum" in the category Medium and another one for “Mild Segorbe Nostrum” in the category Delicate. The participation at this XIIth competition was of 599 oils from 20 different nations, among which were the classic producers like Spain, Italy or Greece, as well as other countries like Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, South Africa, Uruguay, Peru, etc. They were all evaluated in a blind tasting where factors such as taste, aroma, complexity and harmony were taken into account.

The company is particularly glad since this season it has already achieved 8 top honours, including both national and international awards, becoming this way the most awarded autochthonous oil in the world.
This is a great new success for this excellent oil of “Valencia Region Protected Designation of Origin”.

Segorbe Nostrum, winner of two more internatinal olive oil awards


Cooperativa Segorbe is still reaping successes. The last ones have been two medals "Prestige Gold" (for intense unfiltered Segorbe Nostrum oil and for Mild Segorbe Nostrum oil). This medal is the second most important in the world, which is given at the International Competition of extra virgin olive oil Terraolivo 2011 that this year took place from 15th to 19th May in Jerusalem (Israel), at the deluxe Inbal Hotel located in the heart of the city.

This new award recognizes the quality of oils produced by this company mill, which in recent years has made a great effort to increase the value of Serrana Espadán variety oils. These are Valencian Region Protected Designation of Origin olive oils that thanks to their organoleptic features and specific techniques in their farming and processing have delighted the discerning palates of the best international experts in olive oil that were part of the international tasting panel and came from Italy, Argentina, Spain, Israel and the United States.

Five is the number of prizes won by Segorbe Nostrum so far this year, after three awards received by the Ministry of Agriculture from the Valencian Regional Government: Best Oil of Valencia Designation of Origin, Best Fruity Green Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and Best Ripe Fruit Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Belluga Gourmet extra virgin olive oil products awarded for young agricultural initiative


Belluga Gourmet Company from Segorbe has won FIRST PRIZE FOR YOUNG AGRICULTURAL INITIATIVE 2010 given by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from the Valencian Regional Government.

The award recognizes the work of Belluga Gourmet, in the two years of its existence, which has managed to market a complete line of products based on the Extra Virgin Olive Oil in its variety of Serrana de Espadán, and promote the culture of olives and oil. 

It is worth mentioning its olive pâtés line that has been expanding to a total of nine different tastes: green olive pâté, black olive pâté, green olive pâté with almonds, black olive pâté with orange, green olive pâté with capers, green olive pâté with nuts and Espadán herbs, black olive pâté with brandy, black olive pâté with chocolate and black olive pâté with nuts and Espadán herbs. The craft jams are also part of this great project, among those that stand out are the olive one, the rose petals and pepper one without forgetting the classic jams: the black fig one, the tomato one and the delicious one made of wild strawberries with Modena vinegar and black pepper.

Likewise, Belluga Gourmet produce an excellent extra virgin olive oil from a new harvest, Belluga Selection, which is unfiltered cold processed oil made from the first olives (varieties of Espadán Serrana and Borriol) that are harvested in October. However, the most innovative product produced by Belluga Gourmet is the extra virgin olive oil gum drops which were presented at the Madrid International Gourmet Fair. It is a case containing 6 gummies made by using the above mentioned Belluga Selection oil and aromatized with different flavours: strawberry, orange, lemon, mocha, chocolate and mint, in other words, a new fun and enjoyable way to consume oil.

Spanish winery awards. Bodega Les Useres is recognized as best national winery


On May 14 2011 BODEGA LES USERES was awarded BEST NATIONAL WINERY at FECOES (Spanish Federation of Wine and Gastronomy Guilds) national awards 2011. This sixth edition took place in Laredo which is located in Cantabria province, and was dedicated to the Spanish culinary crafts.

Valencia olive oil awards: Segorbe Nostrum, the top winner


Segorbe Nostrum, olive oil produced by the Cooperativa San Isidro de Segorbe has been awarded Best Fruity Green Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Intense Unfiltered Segorbe Nostrum), Best Ripe Fruit Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Mild Segorbe Nostrum), and Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Designation of Origin "Oils from Valencia Region," at the XVIth Competition on Extra Virgin Olive Oil that took place last week in Utiel, in Valencia Province.

The President of the Cooperativa San Isidro de Segorbe D. Jose Molés showed to the large audience, their gratitude and satisfaction for the prize: "we finally picked the fruit that rewards the hard work of many years. The innovation and the incorporation of new production techniques, as well as the production of Segorbe Nostrum oil 100% made with Serrana Espadán olives, have been the key for obtaining this excellent product”.

The olive grove of Valencia Region is farmed in a surface area of 95.000 hectares which means almost the 14% of the total surface area cultivated in the region. In 2010, the production of olive oil reached 29.200 tons. The quality of oils from Valencia is increasing thanks to producers’ work in which they select the varieties with the best characteristics, and also to the innovative production processes,

"Yellow Bottle" >K by Olivos Milenarios del Maestrazgo

The company, Olivos Milenarios del Maestrazgo, ">K", headed by Salva Vives and Javier Reverte, really understand how to make and present EVOO, making an exceptional product.
This company began from a love for olive oil, which was passed down from predecessors to Salva Vives, Hilario Jaime and Ramon Mampel (Clot d'en Simo Co-operative).
"Olivos Milenarios" (Millenial olive trees), their first oil, was the start of a relationship based on the love for a product and a thousand-year-old culture. This summer, the oil from "Thousand-year-old olive trees" prompted me to finding out more about them and it is thanks to the difficulty in reaching them that these precious trees still remain standing, and the oil they produce is now bottled.
Among thousand-year-old olive trees and talks with Salva Vives and Hilario, I discovered the native varieties. They asked me to try a sample of "Canetera" which they were researching. There still remain companies which research how to improve their oils right from the cultivation stage, because there are still some wise people who study the trees and their fruit, not at University, but on the land, right next to the olive trees.
That's Hilario. Salva is the think-tank facing a panorama of national oils where mediocre is more popular than excellent. That's where me, the third stressful element comes in, after travelling over half of Spain and becoming more familiar with the Maestrazgo, I decided to proove the quality of the product and give the new oil a name.
The result of combining work in the fields, choosing the best product and an impressive study of image is "Yellow Bottle".
There are lots of good oils in Spain, a few are exceptional, and then there is... "Yellow Bottle" which is quite simply... a pleasure.

    QUESOS POBLE BENASSAL, THE BEST TRADITIONAL SHEEP CHEESE

    Quesos Poble Benassal is a family-owned manufacturer and distributor of cheese whose origins are dated in the 40's. Today, third generation manages the company which is located in Benassal, a small village within the Maestrazgo Mountains (Castellon province).
    Now, following the family tradition but using new facilities, the company is dedicated to the manufacture of fresh cheese, “requesón” (similar to cottage cheese) and a new range of matured and semi-matured cheese made from goat and sheep milk.
    A sample of the product quality is the 1st Prize for the Best Valencian Sheep Cheese, which they received in 2005.
    They also got the quality mark CV for cheese made in the Valencian Region, given by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and Food of the Valencian Government.

    BEST WINES IN CASTELLON PROVINCE

    Magnanimus Platino, from Mayo Casanova wineries in Vilafamés, a Globbarea company, has been awarded the prize to the best wine in Castellon province. 16 regional wineries took part in this second edition of the contest, with a jury of best Castellon sommeliers. Some other wines were also distinguished with an award, many of them of Globbarea companies too: Baron d’Alba, Agrotaula, Vicente Flors, Bodega Les Useres, Bodega San Juan, Destilerías Vidal, Mas de Rander and Masía de la Hoya.
    Castellon wines have excellent quality to compete in any market, both national and internationally. In recent years Castellon wine sector has been committed to the investigation and use of new technology, both to increase its product offer and to know the market trends. Its challenge for the near future is continuing to open new markets, bringing Castellon wines around the world and winning new clients.

    The surface devoted to vineyards in the province is 1.343 hectares, of which about 500 are located in Vilafames and Useres villages.
